INUIT SUMMERS
Fish. Seal. How do they get it?

In the summer, hunting is much different than in the winter. The Inuit's main meal is fish. One very smart way that the Inuit get these fish is by constructing or repairing a Stone Weir. This Weir stretches all the way across the river, and the fish, mainly salmon, are forced into a small pool of water, where the men wait with leisters. Leisters are sort of like harpoons or spears. Watch our Hunting video to learn more on them. Inuit men need to have extremely quick reflexes and sight, which they do. Another amazing way to do it is by simply standing near the water and chucking the leister at any fish that come by. This requires even more strength, sight, and patience.

In the summer, Inuit also often build a kayak of some sort to hunt for seal. The kayak can only hold one person, and that is often the best hunter.
